Welcome back to the Ultimate Survival Guide Series Summer Travel Edition! This Week it is on packing only what is necessary and not overpacking! We all hate when we get to the airport and weigh our bags and they’re over the limit so we are stuck maneuvering our items around looking crazy just so we don’t have to spend the extra money. Good thing you stumbled across this blog because it will have you packing like a pro and being organized while doing so!
You first want to,
Check to see how long you are staying at your location. This will determine the size suitcase you should bring or if you should just bring a carryon.
Pick out a proper suitcase. The right size suitcase will not allow you to over pack. You will not want to bring a huge suitcase for an overnight trip and vice verse a small suitcase or just a carryon for a week trip.
Look at the weather of where you will be staying this will also determine the order of what to put in your suitcase first ( we will get to that later)
Write down all the items you will be bringing, starting with toiletries ending with your shoes.
Next to what your bringing, write down the quantity of how much of each item you're bringing. Keep this piece of paper and put it in your suitcase when you finish packing.
Pull out all the clothing items you would want to bring (disregard the list) and once you have all the items out pick out the top however many of each item you put on the list and bring those.
Ex. I pull out 10 shirts I want to bring on the trip, but my list only says 5 to bring - pick the best 5 shirts and fold those 5 to pack and put the rest back.
While you are packing the items in your suitcase check off each item on the list.
When you pack you want to make sure you start with the heaviest, bulkiest item and make sure each item is rolled up tightly before going in the suitcase.
Start with shoes, sweaters, sweatshirts, and jeans.
Pack your shirts, dresses(any nice clothes) and skirts.
Pack your underwear and bras.
Then, pack your toiletries, hair products, and skincare products.
Double check your list and make sure you did not forget anything! If you did, make sure to grab it, add to the list, and pack it up!
Lastly, put the list of what you brought on the top of your items and weigh your bags!
Gather all the items you will be traveling with and put them by the door, so when you ready to leave you just need to place them in the car.
I hope this part of the series helps you keep your suitcase organized and at the perfect weight for check in when you are traveling, without looking all discombobulated finding out your bags are overweight and maneuvering things from your suitcase to carry on!
