Summer is quickly approaching and I bet a lot of you have plans to travel to exotic places! I know it can be expensive and stressful organizing all of it, from choosing an airline to packing the carry-on/suitcase to getting checked in to your flight. I know the struggle and stress over these things too! That's why I wrote this blog, to help eliminate the stress of traveling and allow these known to be hassles, to be fun!
I’ll be separating this Ultimate Survival Guide: Summer Traveling Edition into three post; Purchasing a Plane Ticket/Booking a place to stay, Must Haves/ Packing Efficiently for the Summer Vacation, and Airport Necessities! Subscribe to the newsletter!
The best time to buy airline tickets are about 7 weeks out of your departing date.
Start looking around for your plane tickets early, but don’t buy them. Keep an eye on the prices! Most airlines offer cheap seats 4 or 5 months before your departing date.
Cheapest days to travel are Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Weekends and Fridays will always be expensive.
Sign up for emails and get alerts from different hotel sites like kayak.com, Priceline.com, and etc.
Use airline miles or credit card points to purchase hotel rooms.
PURCHASING A TICKET/BOOKING A PLACE TO STAY
Research the different hotels/resorts/airbnb of your destination and go straight to the direct hotel/resort/airbnb website and jot down their nightly prices down.
After you jot the hotel/resort/airbnb prices down, go to your favorite airline’s website and look at the dates of when you are traveling and jot down the round trip prices. **Do this for other airlines you may want to fly as well.
Add the price of flights and hotel costs together in each different combination.
Go to a “traveling agent” website such as apple.com, travelocity.com, expedia.com, etc. and click a flight - hotel deal or flight-hotel-car deal (depending if you need a car) type your information in and see the total cost on their sites.
**If you are deciding on whether or not to get a car sit down with your family and decide if you will be staying more low key and relaxing in your stay or going out for adventure! If you are between staying in, nearby and going out for adventure your best option would be to either UBER, LYFT, or Taxi!
Once you finish that compare the “traveling agent” sites to the individual costs of flights and stay you wrote down before. I guarantee the “traveling agent” site will be more efficient and cost effective than purchasing all separately.
After you have all your best deals lined up, look through Google reviews or Yelp for each deal to narrow your choices down to best reviewed/rated and most money friendly one!
Once you purchase your hotel and flights in whatever efficient and money friendly manner! Make sure you buy travelers insurance in case anything happens to the plane so you are not stranded at the airport!
I hope this helps you with purchasing your ticket/hotel and helps you with the car decision hassle in the future. Stay tuned for next blog on Must Haves/Packing Efficiently and Light for Summer Travel, subscribe to the newsletter to get the update for when it is posted!
